Pong – The Next Level basiert auf Ataris erstem Arcadespiel Pong aus dem Jahr 1972.
Nach dem Verkauf der Atari Interactive an Infogrames wurde das Spiel unter der Marke Hasbro Interactive vertrieben.
Die Game Boy Color-Version wurde unter dem Label Hasbro Interactive vertrieben. Später erschienen noch Umsetzungen für die PlayStation 3, PSP und PS Vita. Auch eine Version für Mac OS ab Version 8.6 wurde vertrieben.
